2022

July 2022 (Website Update) - I have been doing a lot of major updating, upgrading, and reorganizeing of my website. This should not affect the usability of my website, however, many of my webpages have changed their web address.

So…

If you have any of my webpages bookmarked, you will have to change and,or update your bookmarks to the new web addresses of the relocated pages.

When I first started hand coding my website I just positioned everything absolute, ( position:absolute; ). I did it this way to avoid any hassles of learning how to position things relative, ( position:relative; ), in the predefined HTML format. That way I wouldn't have to fight with it, I could just position everything exactly where I wanted it and that would be it.

( I also did it that way to avoid the irritating, manipulating, harassing, annoying possibility of the SMARiTT people watching me and hacking my code. Especially since all computers are manufactured so that they are always connected to the main government, national security computers the SMARiTT people rule the world with.)

Positioning everything absolute is a bit more work because you have to write the code for everything to position it where you want it. This was not a problem for me because I didn't mind doing the extra work. In fact, I thought it was kind of fun.

When my website was small, this was no big deal. However, now that I have thousands of pages to keep up with, keep track of, and maintain, it starts to become overly time consuming. The most time consuming problem with positioning everything absolute is having to change the page length every time I change, add, or remove something.

After years of having a website, learning how to position most everything relative is very easy to do. I knew how to do it when I first started, it was just that it was easier and faster for me to position every absolute rather than relative.

I have actually been updating and upgrading my html and css code for a few years now. I am just finally almost finished doing it for my whole site. As for now I only have one more site to do, my SMARiTT site, and then I will have all of my websites finished and upgraded to my new code. This will definitely make it easier and faster for me to add more content and new websites to my website. Also, with most everything positioned relative, I can just drop in new stuff or remove stuff and the page length expands or decreases automatically. Which saves me a lot of time.

When it comes to writing computer code, when you first start out you don't know exactly how to do it the best way you can. However, after a little while you get better at it and you learn how to write better code for easier and faster maintenance and updating. It can save a lot of time and make it even more fun to work with.

Another thing that takes a lot of time to keep up with in your website is keeping track of and maintaining the links in your webpages. So I decide to streamline my links a bit better. I removed many of my links in the headers on most sites and only left a few to get back to the main site. This way I have less links to maintain and I think it looks a little less crowded too.

I also decided to incorporate the Welcome Page, the Main Page, and the My Work Page into just one page. So they are all now just one page, the "Main" page. When I first started my website it was just a matter of artistic value to tried to make my website look good and be easily usable by the people who may come to it and,or use it. Now that I have had my website for quite a while, it is still the same thing. I want it to be easily usable, efficient, and to be aesthetically pleasant. I am not that much of an artistic person when it comes to graphics or pictures but I do the best I can. I just try to keep it simple and easy to look at.

While doing all of this stuff to my website, updating/upgrading my code and streamlining my links a bit better, I also decide to reorganize my webpages. This is why just about all of my webpages have changed their web addresses. By doing this I will be able to upload my webpages and websites to my web host server in a more organized and easier to control fashion. Over the years I have organized and reorganized my websites several times. Hopefully, the way I reorganized it this time will become my more efficient or most efficient way of doing it. The only problem with moving files and folders around on your website is that if anyone has any of your pages bookmarked, those bookmarks won't work anymore. So you try not to do it too often, but occasionally it is necessary.

Having a website is very easy to do and it is kind of fun to have and work on also. However, the better you have it organized and the more organized and efficient your code is, the more fun it is, because you can work on it a lot faster and easier. So I have been updating things in and for my website, for that purpose.

Thanks for coming to my website and reading this article.
