FCJM's Christmas Movie Chronicles

Home Alone (1990)

     When this movie first came out at the movie theaters I saw the advertisements for it on TV. Part of the storyline was that a family goes on vacation and leaves one of their kids home alone, by accident. My first thought was, that doesn’t sound realistic, no one is going to go on vacation and forget one of their kids. ? How are they going to make that look realistic. (I know, I know), it is just a movie, but it has to appear to be somewhat realistic in order for it to be entertaining. So I kind of scrutinized it a bit.
     Then I heard around that lots of people liked it, so I went to see it, and I was kind of impressed with how the writers and directors covered all the details of the storyline to make it appear to be believable. In fact, it was really good, and much better than I had expected. It was quite enjoyable and the cast was pretty good too.
     It is definitely a good Christmas movie and worth watching again, and again, around Christmas time.

     It also has some of my favorite Christmas songs in it too;

     • Please Come Home For Christmas - Southside Johnny Lyon (This is my favorite version of this song)
     • White Christmas - The Drifters (This is an excellent version of this song and there are other really good versions of it too.)
     • Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
     • A Carol Of Bells - Not sure who performs this one. (There are many versions of this song out there and I like a whole bunch of them. This version is excellent too. I once heard a version of this song where the music was actually played with bells. I can’t seem to find that version anywhere, but it was one of, if not, my favorite version.)
